Married to my amazing husband. I'm a musician, a knitting addict and a tv addict. I love Castle, Bones, Parenthood, Doctor Who, Switched at Birth, Big Bang Theory, Heartland...and the list goes on and on.
My husband and I work with the children’s ministry at our church on Wednesday nights. One of the kids who comes has a prosthetic leg. I love her attitude about it. She’s very matter of fact about it and is completely comfortable with who she is. She also doesn’t ever let it slow her down. I worry about her falling in game time, but she doesn’t seem to care. She just jumps back up and keeps going. It has also led to us having to say things we never imagined like “put your leg back on or put it down, but please quit playing with it.” I think because she’s so comfortable with herself it makes everyone around her more comfortable with who she is and I have not seen the bullying and teasing that I initially worried about. It’s interesting too because her older brother gets offended at the drop of a hat. If you look at him wrong or the second he doesn’t get his way, he runs away and throws a temper tantrum. I know every kid is different, but it’s clear which kid is having an easier time dealing with life.
