Married to my amazing husband. I'm a musician, a knitting addict and a tv addict. I love Castle, Bones, Parenthood, Doctor Who, Switched at Birth, Big Bang Theory, Heartland...and the list goes on and on.
I’m avoiding those this time around as much as possible because I’ve found my own views rarely align with those of the people writing about the screener previews. They often embody the worst parts of fandom (counting kisses etc).
DTK was very much a case in point. All of them loved the ending scene, but I find found it sorta cheesy.
Some days it feels like anyone and their brother can get their hands on a screener. It doesn’t mean their opinions have to be followed to the letter at all, and I wish more people would remember it’s okay to ignore them and draw their own conclusions once they see the ep.
I got to hang out with my nephew today while my sister in law taught art class. It was really fun. He’s getting so big and says and does the most hilarious stuff. He got all cranky a couple of times because he was tired and wanted his mom. Most of the time I got him distracted by looking at cars outside, going in the little train at the bookstore or looking at his pictures on my phone. He loves looking at himself on my phone. He just keeps saying “Me! It’s me!” Then I asked him if he wanted to call someone. I said something about saying “Hello” so then he started going “Hellooo!!!” and then said it in a quiet sweet voice. The bookstore employee and I were cracking up at him!
I asked my sister in law to recommend books that aren’t romantic in nature for a 12 year old girl I know who is obsessed with “romantic” stuff and is very interested in boys. I’m a little worried about that because she has such a crappy home life and she’s so young and still so immature in a lot of ways. I don’t want her using relationships with boys because she doesn’t get much love at home. She’s much more developed that most girls her age so she could easily use that to get attention. I have seen other girls in the neighborhood do that and it makes me sad that they are having sex at the age of 11 because they are so desperate for love but it just makes more problems because they are not mature enough to handle that.
On a better note, my husband was promoted at work today. It couldn’t come at a better time! We’ve been barely breaking even with all of our bills and our finances have been super stressful lately. Our car has all sorts of problems too. It has been leaking coolant really bad, the check engine light is on and the brake lines are rusting out. Plus today the drivers side mirror came loose and a knob on the stereo is breaking. We’ll fix what we can for now until we can save up enough to get a new car. Someone my husband knows can fix the leaking coolant issue for super cheap so that’s good.
